Ok, the word "LeGeNd" may be a bit of an exaggeration, but we have to admit he's a...renegade?
1. Pepto-Bismol Pink

Back in 2010, Ian Poulter was basically a walking diarrhea ad when he decided to don an all-pink ensemble. He's been known to have an affinity for the color over the years, so it's no surprise he wore it when he won his first PGA TOUR event at the 2010 WGC-Accenture Match Play.
2. All the Kings Men

During the 2009 Open Championship, Poulter was feeling patriotic when he paired a Union Jack sweater vest with red, blue and white tartan pants (or trousers, as the British say). If this outfit doesn't scream "I'm a fancy lad", I don't know what does. His colonial coordination was highlighted by his spiked, frosted tips. And you can't forget about that soul patch. Yum-o.
3. Union Jack of All Trades

For some crazy reason, the 2009 outfit wasn't IJP's first time wearing such an outfit. During the 2004 Open Championship, he wore a similar outfit. Poulter's Union Jack trousers apparently drew some criticisms, according to BBC Sports. Peter Dawson, the R&A chief at the time, even had to make a statement about it, saying "We shall not be asking Ian Poulter to change his trousers". The event was held at Royal Troon that year, so my best guess is the Scottish fans were not too pleased to see those colors there?
4. Elton John's shirt (probably)

This has to be the worst outfit (in my opinion) IJP has ever worn. He got dressed with his eyes closed while playing a tournament in India in 2008. Aside from the Disco-era lamé shirt that looks like a sauna, the brown pants with weird designs on the bottom of the pant legs are also horrendous. And to top it off with a burnt orange visor is just icing on the cake.
5. Gunner Forever

Ian Pouter is very outspoken in his support for Arsenal, the Premier League football club. However, his decision to wear the jersey during the 2006 Abu Dhabi Championship was controversial. If you aren't aware, the European Tour now has a rule (thanks to Poulter) that prohibits its players from wearing clothing that represents any football club during tournament play. Although that was not a rule at the time, the main issue with Poutler's shirt was the size of the logo on the front. (Logos must be under a certain size.) Luckily for Poulter, he managed to avoid a fine, but set a new precedent going forward.
Also, the reason this makes the list is because the maroon color is gross and O2 logo is weird.
6. Arsenal Hair

Just like the above photo, it's obvious Poulter loves Arsenal. So much so that he actually paid someone to do this to his hair in 2003 to support the team. Not only are the random red streaks the opposite of fAsHiOn, the hair cut and blond dye job aren't doing him many favors either. This entire hair cut/color is straight out of an early-2000's emo/punk rock bank. It only seems fitting that he would break into a My Chemical Romance song.
7. Pink and Purple

We know Poulter loves pink, but he also enjoys pairing it with purple for some unexplained reason. Back in 2008 at the Open Championship, he wore this outfit and the only ok thing about it is the visor. Everything else -- from the pink thread in the purple pants to the magenta top -- just isn't great.

However, Poulter tried this color combo again at the 2019 US Open. This time, the combo looked great. He really looked fantastic. Unfortunately, he did card an 8 while wearing it, so there's that...
8. More Claret, Please

During the 2005 Open Championship, Poulter wore these pants with the Claret Jug down the pant leg. Also, if you look at his shoes, you'll see the Arsenal logo. But back to the pants... a lot of people gave him grief over these, but I personally think they're pretty cool. I love the Claret Jug, and the color combo of the outfit isn't bad, either.
9. Knickers? I barely know her...

If you can't tell, most of Poulter's crazy outfits seem to come from the Open Championship during the first decade of the 2000's. During the 2004 Open, he paired a baggy mock turtle neck with some baggie pants he rolled into a pair of white tube socks he found in the back of a drawer (which were the only pair not crusted in a weird, unexplainable white paste). The flowing spiked hair coming out of the back of a Christina Kim hat (that's what I call those hats because I have no idea what they are called) really brings the whole outfit together.
10. Kim Kardashian Met Gala Dress Inspo

You may not know this, but Ian Poulter's pants from the 2005 HSBC Champions Tournament were actually the inspiration Kim Kardashian's 2013 Met Gala dress. And while KKW was inspired by Poulter, Poulter was in fact inspired by a dreadful couch my parents had in our living room until 2003.
(You can kind of see the couch in this adorable photo of me with my mother and grandmother from 1995).
